Bridging Digital Divide in Primary through Secondary Schools in Ghana, West Africa

OUR OBJECTIVES

Our Vision:

CASP aspires, as non-profit organization, to be actively involved in making a significant contribution towards bridging the vast digital divide between African's school-age children from primary through secondary levels to that of their counterparts in the Western world.

Our Mission:

CASP is dedicated to assisting poor and underserved schools in Ghana to bridge the wide digital divide between Third World students and those of the developed world  through donating computer equipment, training, volunteering, and collaborations.

Our Values:

Honesty, integrity, teamwork, consultation, is our core values. Our principal strengths are the dedicated donors, volunteers and school children whom we value highly and strive to support in their personal and educational development.

Our Goal:

  • Advancing basic computing know-how among African schools from Primary through Secondary levels
  • Assisting African students in developing their talents to the fullest
  • Empowering the poor and disadvantaged to improve their lives and communities through technical skills.
  • Promoting volunteerism.
  • Bringing African students closer to their counterparts via Internet and Email communications.

Operational Procedures:

  • Efficient reuse of 'redundant' equipment: businesses, organizations and individuals can donate their computer equipment they intend to dispose of  but will be of significant benefit to education in developing countries.
  • Promote Recycling: Arrange for recycling of donated PCs and make them ready for use in schools in Africa. We are also involved in sending out ready-refurbished computers from large USA organizations.
  • Encourage volunteerism: local volunteers are used to collect, refurbish and pack computers for shipment.
  • Forge Strategic Partnerships: For example, through Ghana Education Service, Ministry of Education and other local volunteer committees, we ensure the best possible use of the computers once installed in local schools.
  • Develope IT Infrastructure: Setup network and Internet-based facilities in schools for Internet access free of charge. Teachers are also trained in computer technologies consistent with Ghana Ministry of Education approved IT curriculum.

We rely entirely on donations to fund our work. Our main donors include Global Gateway Consulting, Inc. (GGC), Northern Virginia Training Center (part of Virginia Departmental of Health), Alliance Appraisal Company, Star Healthcare Services and others.
